We are looking for an individual who has experience in caring for children to join our team as a Enhanced Senior Residential Care Worker. This is an important role which helps to bring continuity and stability to our children’s lives as we help them learn the skills required ready for independence.
Job Information:
- Career Level: Enhanced Senior Residential Care Worker
- Working Hours: 243 hours per month working a shift pattern and will be required to undertake some sleep ins
- Ability to Drive: Essential.
- Salary & Benefits: Dependent on experience and qualifications.
Essential Experience:
- 1 years relevant supervisory experience
- 12 months experience of working in a residential setting with young people with challenging behaviour
Essential Education:
- Secondary Education with good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Diploma Level 3 Children & Young People Workforce or NVQ equivalent
Desirable Education:
- Management/Supervisory qualification
- NVQ Level 4 or Diploma 5 Children and Young People
Reports to:
- Deputy Manager, Home Manager
The purpose of a Enhanced Senior Residential Care Worker:
- To provide a supportive and nurturing support to young people and care staff in accordance with company Policies and Procedures.
- To lead by example and maintain good professional practices in accordance with legislation and guidance.
- To be held accountable for the safety and wellbeing of our young people, whilst on shift with them.
- To help create a supportive and positive environment for each young person with particular reference to his or her safety, health and education.
- To act as a surrogate parent with professional boundaries.
- To assist the manager in ensuring the home operates in accordance with the Statement of Purpose.
- To supervise RCW’s in line with Quality Standards & Regulations and as directed by the Registered Manager.
Key elements of the role:
- Ensure safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made.
- To contribute to the young person’s care plans and risk assessments, their review and implementation.
- To contribute to the educational and social development of each young person.
- To form effective relationships with young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies to ensure that:
- To meet the emotional and physical needs of our young people and maximize opportunities for their development
- To ensure that young people’s views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate.
- To ensure that accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets and files both to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take place
- To create a caring and positive environment for each young person with particular regard to their safety, health and education.
- To undertake a ‘key worker’ role with young people as required.
- To undertake cooking and domestic duties as would a ‘good parent’.
- To dispense, record and administer medication as required.
- To inform colleagues of relevant developments and communications i.e. during handover.
- To ensure high quality supervision of young people, ensuring their individual safety and well-being is closely monitored.
- To support the Manager in the preparation, implementation, review and updating of Placement Plans and risk assessments and monitoring progression.
- To identify problems and service deficiencies by the continuous review of young people’s needs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensuring that each RCW is aware of each child’s care plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
- Attending reviews and planning meetings for young people.
- Acting as an appropriate adult at PACE interviews.
- Providing supervisory management and direction in relation to RCW duties and responsibilities, including undertaking regular supervisions, identifying L&D requirements and appraisals of RCW’s.
- Contribute to team meetings.
- Ensuring you and the RCW’s work within the company policies, procedures and Quality Standards & Regulations requirements.
- Ensuring that home finances are properly monitored / administered, including petty cash returns, weekly attendance records etc.
- Undertake all other reasonable tasks as directed by the Registered Manager and/or the Deputy Manager.
