We are looking for an individual who has experience in caring for children to join our team as a Deputy Manager. This is an important role which helps to bring continuity and stability to our children’s lives as we help them learn the skills required ready for independence.

- Career Level: Deputy Manager
- Working Hours: 173 hours per month working a shift pattern and will be required to undertake some sleep ins
- Ability to Drive: Essential.
- Salary & Benefits: Dependent on experience and qualifications.
Essential Experience:
- 1 years relevant supervisory experience
- 12 months experience of working in a residential setting with young people with challenging behaviour, with a minimum of 6 months of these having been at a senior level
- Understanding the needs of BESD children including managing challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of Quality Standards & Regulations
- Knowledge of the Children Act and other relevant legislation
- Level 3 Diploma or Equivalent is preferred but not essential.
Essential Education:
- Secondary Education with good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Diploma Level 3 Children & Young People Workforce or NVQ equivalent
Desirable Education:
- Management/Supervisory qualification
- NVQ Level 4 or Diploma 5 Children and Young People
Reports to:
The purpose of a Deputy Manager:
- To supervise RCW’s and SRCW’s in line with Quality Standards & Regulations and as directed by the Registered Manager.
- To be held accountable for the safety and wellbeing of our young people, whilst on shift with them.
- To assist the Homes Manager by operating within the boundaries of the Statement of Purpose.
- To fill in for the Home Manager, when they are not in the home or during annual leave.
- To support and manage the care team to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people.
- To offer supervision and support to staff team in line with Quality Standards & Regulations and as directed by the Home Manager.
Key elements of the role:
- Ensure safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made.
- To contribute to the young person’s care plans and risk assessments, their review and implementation.
- To promote the educational and social development of each young person.
- To meet the emotional and physical needs of our young people and maximise opportunities for their development.
- To ensure that young people’s views, wishes and feelings are sought and acted upon where appropriate.
- To ensure that accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets and files both to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take place.
- To dispense, record and administer medication as required.
- To inform colleagues of relevant developments and communications i.e. during handover.
- To ensure high quality supervision of young people, ensuring their individual safety and well-being is closely monitored.
- To support the Manager in the preparation, implementation, review and updating of Placement Plans and risk assessments and monitoring progression.
- To identify problems and service deficiencies by the continuous review of young people’s needs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensuring that each RCW/SRCW is aware of each child’s care plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
- Attending reviews and planning meetings for young people.
- Acting as an appropriate adult at PACE interviews.
- Providing supervisory management and direction in relation to RCW and SRCW duties and responsibilities, including undertaking regular supervisions, identifying L&D requirements and appraisals of RCW’s/SCRW.
- Contribute and lead team meetings.
- Ensuring the staff team work within the companies policies, procedures and Quality Standards & Regulations requirements.
- Undertake all other reasonable tasks as directed by the Registered Manager and / or Senior Management Team.
